Big-name stars like Justin Timberlake, Kanye West and Britney Spears have also had tense run-ins with photographers.

For many celebrities, their relationship with the prying lens of the paparazzi has always been love/hate. Some bask in the attention and others complain of being hounded relentlessly by hungry photographers. This week, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez were caught up in a paparazzi kerfuffle while celebrating the Biebs' 17th birthday in Los Angeles.
After giving the paps the finger during the encounter, Bieber later apologized via Twitter. But he's only the latest in a long history of celebrity/celebrity-photographer encounters: Everyone from Lily Allen to Coldplay's Chris Martin to Sean Penn (the king of paparazzi knockdowns) has had heated moments with the paps. Here, we look back at some of the more memorable run-ins.
Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz
Like Bieber and Gomez, then-couple Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz were involved in a scuffle with the paps in 2006. Diaz claimed a photographer tried to run her over, while the photographer claimed the actors had trapped him as he was trying to get away.
Björk in Bangkok
Björk lashed out a photographer at Bangkok airport in 1996, attacking a female photog who was trying to take pictures of her as she made her way through the airport. Things quickly got physical. The singer also attacked a paparazzo in 2008 in New Zealand, also at an airport, ripping his shirt.
Britney Spears and an Umbrella
During a more trying time in Britney Spears' life, the singer, who had recently shaved her head, attacked a paparazzo's SUV as a pack of photographers looked on. Using an umbrella to carry out the attack, it was believed that Britney was feeling the pressure of the prying paparazzi lens when she wailed on that car in 2007.
Russell Brand and Katy Perry
In 2010, Russell Brand attacked several paparazzi while he and his soon-to-be-wife Katy Perry made their way through LAX. Brand was convinced the photogs were tying to sneak inappropriate pics of Perry.
Kanye West and the Bodyguard
Kanye also had a moment with paps at an airport. West and his bodyguard Don Crowley got into a physical altercation with a photographer in 2008 at LAX. Both he and Crowley were accused of ruining camera equipment after a photog attempted to take the rapper's photo.

Martha Stewart is a grandmother!
Stewart’s only child, Alexis, 45, has welcomed a daughter of her own via a gestational carrier. Alexis announced on her radio show Whatever with Alexis & Jennifer that baby Jude was born Tuesday -- and that her famously crafty mom has no plans of being an ordinary grandmother.
"Martha is going to be called ‘Martha,'" the new mom said. "She seemed to have no problem with it… I was like, 'Do you really want to be 'Grandma'? I don’t like the term grandma!"
The radio host said her mogul mom, 69, is already spoiling baby Jude. "She was born at 1 in the morning… and (Martha) brings this huge box from Bergdorf (Goodman)," she said. "I open it up and I look inside and it’s full of baby clothes, all with embroidery, and I’m like, 'Wow, I guess I’m going to be allowed to buy myself something pretty nice because all this stuff’s going back!'"
"If the kid can’t see it, why the $100 (clothes)?" she quipped. "Only books -- child appropriate or whatever. That’s the only thing that I want. No toys please!"
With her typical sass, Stewart refused to disclose too many personal details about her baby girl. "You’re not getting her weight and length," she said. "It’s rude!"

Someone stuck their finger up Beverly's butt yesterday. It was the vet. She was not happy about it. (Beverly, that is. I'm not sure how the vet felt about the whole incident.)

Tournament tips off Monday, and the Brooklyn duo like their chances.

Much like the actual March Madness tournament, MTV's second annual Musical March Madness brackets are filled with upstart bands looking to shock the world.
Everywhere you looked this year, there were unknown acts making big moves — everyone from Mumford & Sons and Florence and the Machine to the Black Keys and Cage the Elephant — but perhaps no band went from obscurity to the big time quite like Sleigh Bells. The Brooklyn duo broke out with their squalling, squelching debut Treats.
So it should probably come as no surprise that, as we gear up for the tipoff of the 2011 MMM on Monday, the Bells are making preparations for a deep run in the tournament. And, in keeping with the spirit of dark-horse contenders like the Butler Bulldogs (who came within a desperation 3-point heave of upsetting Duke in the 2010 NCAA finals), they're entering firmly as underdogs — which suits them just fine.
"We are definitely an underdog," singer Alexis Krauss laughed. "I don't know ... it's a bit overwhelming. But I'm appealing to you as the underdog to try and go out at least fighting a good fight."
And, really, that battling spirit is perhaps Sleigh Bells' best shot at making their way to the MMM championship. They already know they'll face tough challenges from established acts like Linkin Park and Panic! at the Disco and up-and-comers like Adele, and if they survive that, they might just run into defending champs Coheed and Cambria in the finals. But as Krauss put it, underdog or not, her band possesses a trait that none of the other MMM bands have: Namely, a lot of weapons. And genuine psychosis.
"Have you seen our videos? In my first video, I was walking around wielding a baseball bat. In my second video, I was pushing [guitarist/producer] Derek [Miller]out of a car, and he was covered in blood. So clearly we have some tricks up our sleeves," she explained. "Derek, he knows his basketball, he knows his stuff. We already have jerseys made; we're ready to go. So, I don't know, expect the unexpected. And we may not just use basketballs, we may use baseball bats and switchblades. Who knows? We're psychos."
MTV's 2011 Musical March Madness Tournament begins Monday, March 14, when we reveal the full field of 64 bands that will battle for the championship. Winners are determined by fan votes, so if your favorite act made the cut, it'll be up to you to guide them to glory. You can rally the troops on Twitter using the hashtag #MMM — but get ready, it's gonna be a war.
